ACRYLIC ART

BRIGHTER DAYS

2020 had been a year filled with unknowns and apprehension related to Covid.  In 2021 I set out to create a piece that represented our hope and optimism for brighter days ahead.

STREAMS AND SHORES

This piece was created for the 2022 Trail Mix Exhibit at the Whit Gallery in St. Cloud, MN.  The show's theme was the environment and the importance of protecting it.  Using repurposed ad natural materials, I was inspired by the thousands of lakes, rivers and shorelines that make up my home state of Minnesota.

RESURRECTION

Starting at the purple cross in the center of the tomb, God's glory rises through shades of yellow, gradually fading into pure white.  Purple represents royalty & power.  Yellow represents joy & hope.  White represents purity, perfection and righteousness.

"God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners".     Romans 5:8

IN THE WAITING

I created this as an expression of our family's journey through hospice with my father-in-law in the fall of 2022.  When Autie was in hospice there was so much beauty and pain and living and dying happening all at once.  It was a time of waiting for the scales to balance but not being ready for what had to happen to bring that balance back.  And then, by the grace of God...Peace.

SUMMER DAYS

The technique used in this piece is inspired by soutache beaded jewelry.  The flow of the canvas background is determined by the floral shapes creating the relaxed feel of a summer breeze.

BLUE DEVILS RUN

"Blue Devils" is defined as a period of depression, melancholy, or despondence.

This piece represents the often-repeating cycle that a person living with depression or anxiety may battle throughout their life.  The gradual or sudden shift from good days to the dark days, and at its worst...the "deep, dark place".
